Hello VM Community!
Please excuse my confusion and if I am posting this in the wrong spot. I've had a heck of a time trying to find a group like that could offer some insight. Thanks for any direction you might be able to offer.
My issue is I have been successfully been using VM Player 3.x to power WinXP Pro under a Win7x64 machine for about 3 years now. Suddenly the USB stopped working in VM Player and the VMWare knowledge base said the first step should be to upgrade my version of VM Player. From within Player, I choose the "check for software updates" under the Help menu and started the upgrade process. It said to reboot my physical computer and I did so. When it restarted it said there was an error and Windows closed the VM Player setup process. Now I'm stuck without Player and most importantly XP! XP is vital to run a couple programs. Is there a way to repair/restart the nearly completed upgrade of Player?
If not, then the next step seems it would be to re-install the 6.x version of Player. But I'm unclear if I do so, will my installation of XP Pro still be there or will a clean install erase that? I really don't want to lose XP and the data installed. The data IS backed up, but I'd rather not have to go through the entire process again of installing everything fresh.
Any suggestions? Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
