Network Discovery does not work after Clean Install of Windows 8.1

Hello Everyone,

First of all everything worked fine until I upgraded Windows and host antivirus

Host Computer: i7 16G ram, 250GB ssd, 1TB storage, Realtek gigabit nic built into motherboard

Here is the issue:

I added a SSD and used the old system hhd as storage

I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 x64 Build 9600 for the host system.

I re-installed installed VMPlayer 6.0.1 and accepted the update to VM tools. The VM tools update seemed to install just fine.

The Network card is configured NAT.

The virtual system is Windows XP Pro.

The computer is on a private network with other computers.

The host (W8.1) can see all of the other computers

The other computers can see the host

The guest (XP) can only see itself and sometimes the host but not any others. It can however print to a printer via an ip address and the xp printer driver so some access is there.

My goal is to attach shared folders to be used by this Windows XP virtual PC.

I have rebooted host, reinstalled VMPlayer etc. I am out of ideas.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
