Connecting two VMs over network.

Hi,

I am trying to connect two VM instances over network for one of my project.

I have to have a setup where two VM instances are installed on two different host OS. Now I want to establish the networking link between the two VMs e.g. establish a ping or traceroute between the two VM IP addresses.

Can someone please explain how this can be done? What configurations I have to make on VM as well on Host to make this work?
