My Homesystem: Ubuntu 15.04
My Guestsystem Window Professional 7, 64Bit, SP1
VMWare-Player 7
All started with the unability to install the VMTools - Tools Wizzard does not start after selection of installation (with version 6 of the player I had NO problems!).
The downloaded Archive with the tools-exe-file could not be opened (corrupted).
I loaded down the Tools-Iso-Image. As the standard CDROM is not accessible because of driver problems (Driver NECVMWar is defect -Code 39) I created a second virtual CD-ROM-drive and associated it with this iso-file. But with the second CDROM drive I got the same driver error.
Some infors:
1. I had NOT checked the legacy emulation box.
2. in the vmx-file there is no entry "ide1:0.deviceType" but instead
sata0:0.deviceType = "cdrom-image"
when I changed the value to "cdrom-raw" I had no CDROM drive at all. Also changing the keys form sata to ide did not help!
Could You help me?
